Citizens of EU/EEA countries

Nordic citizens do not need a work permit to work in Sweden.

As an EU/EEA citizen, you can also work and live in Sweden without a work permit if you meet the relevant requirements.

Citizens of non-EU countries

If you are a citizen of a non-EU country, you must have a work permit to work in Sweden. In most cases, you must apply from your home country or the country where you last lived.

This also applies if you already have a Danish work or residence permit. If you live in Denmark and commute to work in Sweden, you must apply for a Swedish work permit.

You can apply on the Swedish Migration Agency’s website.

If you move from Denmark to Sweden

If you are a non-EU citizen and move from Denmark to Sweden, you may lose your Danish residence and work permit. If you later move back to Denmark, you must apply for a new residence and work permit.
